![]() ![]() Players should be avoiding burst mode when they can. At the cost of 40 AP, use Shield Charge wisely, and be sure a fellow sister can follow up with a killing blow. Delaying the target by 20 initiative may also open it up to another attack from a different sister. It’s always good to dish out damage when possible, and Shield Charge will both get the Shieldbearer out of harms way (if stuck in an AoE attack) as well as punish whatever she’s bashing. Given that both skills cost a hefty amount of AP, Shield Charge is arguably more useful between the two. Level 10 introduces ‘Shield Charge’ and ‘Giant Leap’ into the mix. They also have Soulslingers to interrupt incoming attacks as well. However, players avoiding burst and properly baiting enemy attacks shouldn't be too worried about delaying common enemy initiative. Used in tandem with her Slam skill, Vital Grace can be helpful in delaying initiative of nearby enemies. Pay attention to the timeline and if it looks like the attack is unavoidable, swoop in and save the day. Play this skill wisely as to not accidentally put a sister in harms way. Saving Grace will also cancel an enemy attack AND dish out a massive chunk of damage. Although losing the Bright Soul won't end the mission, it is vital to keep it alive as to cash it in for a revive token. It is especially useful when protecting the Bright Soul in rescue missions. Between the two, Saving Grace plays more to the Shieldbearer’s strengths as she will trade places with any sister coming under fire. Level 5 will grant The Shieldbearer ‘Saving Grace’ or ‘Vital Grace’. In this regard, The Shieldbearer can boost herself up in the timeline to avoid a flank or backstab. Equipping one to Blacksmith's Grace can double the initiative boost she receives. Players will unlock initiative boosting memories as they play Othercide. ![]() Use Blacksmith’s Grace wisely as not to cause too much self harm to the Shieldbearer. That being said, there’s no need to spend so much HP if all she has to worry about is an incoming Scratch. The HP cost associated with the skill is far less than the beating she’d otherwise take from boss attacks. Each attack will deal little if not zero damage, and The Shieldbearer's turn will come up sooner on the time line.Blacksmith’s Grace is most effective in boss fights as her main goal is to move into range and draw the boss' aggro. ![]() This is especially helpful when surrounded by mobs of Scavengers, or taking pot shots from Infected. Each time she is attacked while ‘graced’ her initiative will boost up 15 points on the timeline. Blacksmith’s Grace will buff her armor by 180 while still triggering reactionary effects. While Shield Bash will dish out some damage, it plays against what the Shieldbearer is all about. Players learn how to use Shield Bash in the game’s tutorial, therefor one might think it’s the right one to choose. Like her sisters, The Shieldbearer will learn four new abilities as she is leveled up.Īt level 2, the Shieldbearer will choose between ‘Shield Bash' and 'Blacksmith’s Grace’. The Shieldbearer is a 'must have' in boss fights as most boss attacks will do significant damage to any other Daughter. She can absorb hit after hit, and allow for Blademasters to get in close, or Soulslingers to get in range. Her main focus is attracting enemy aggro, and making sure to keep her sisters safe. The Shieldbearer is birthed with almost twice as much HP as the Blademaster and considerably more than the Soulslinger. ![]()
